Ingredients
Scale
14 oz (1 block) of Firm tofu
2 tablespoons of Sesame oil
2 tablespoons of Korean gochujang (red chili paste)
3 tablespoons of Soy sauce
1 tablespoon of Maple syrup
2 cloves of Garlic, minced
3 of Green onions, sliced
1 tablespoon of Sesame seeds, toasted
Instructions
Begin by pressing the firm tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap the tofu in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels, placing a weight on top to help draw out the liquid. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
Once pressed, slice the tofu into even cubes, about ½ inch thick.
In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat until hot but not smoking.
Add the tofu cubes to the skillet. Cook until they are golden and crispy on all sides, approximately 5 minutes.
While the tofu cooks, mix together gochujang, soy sauce, maple syrup, and minced garlic in a small bowl.
When the tofu is done cooking, pour the sauce over the crispy tofu and reduce the heat to low. Let it braise for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once well-braised, remove from heat. Sprinkle sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds over the dish and serve hot.
