4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
½ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup whole milk, warmed (not hot)
⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
2 large apples, peeled and diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup brown sugar
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy. Stir in melted butter, salt, and eggs. Gradually add flour, mixing until the dough forms a ball. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm space for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
While the dough rises, mix diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla in a medium bowl.
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it into a large rectangle, about ¼-inch thick. Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough.
Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 even pieces.
Place the cut rolls into a greased baking dish (9×13 inch works perfectly). Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
