Ingredients
Scale
1 large sub or Italian bread loaf
1 pound thinly sliced ribeye steak (or sirloin, for a leaner option)
1 cup provolone cheese, shredded (mozzarella can be used as a substitute)
1 cup bell peppers, diced (red, green, or a mix for color)
1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
4 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy kick
Instructions
Gather all your ingredients and prepare them by thinly slicing the ribeye steak, dicing the bell peppers and onions.
In a large skillet over medium heat, add a dash of oil and sauté onions and bell peppers until soft (5–7 minutes). Add steak, seasoning with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes; cook until browned (another 5–7 minutes).
Reduce heat to low, stir in shredded provolone cheese, mixing until melted.
Prepare garlic butter by mixing softened butter with minced garlic and a pinch of salt until well combined.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut bread in half lengthwise, spread garlic butter on both sides, then fill with the cheesesteak mixture.
Wrap bread in aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes. Unwrap and bake for an additional 5–10 minutes until edges are crispy.
Remove from oven, cool slightly, then cut into portions and serve.
