Ingredients
Scale
4 cups of all-purpose flour
½ cup of granulated sugar
2 ¼ teaspoons of active dry yeast
1 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of warm milk
1/3 cup of unsalted butter (melted)
1 large egg
1 cup of chopped fresh cranberries
1 tablespoon of orange zest
1 cup of powdered sugar
2 tablespoons of orange juice
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes or until frothy.
Add in the melted butter, egg, salt, and orange zest to the yeast mixture. Gradually stir in the all-purpose flour, one cup at a time, mixing with a wooden spoon or spatula until fully incorporated.
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
While the dough rises, chop fresh cranberries and mix them with a tablespoon of sugar and the orange zest.
Once doubled, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread the cranberry mixture evenly over the dough and tightly roll it into a log, slicing it into equal pieces.
Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
While the rolls are baking, create the icing by mixing powdered sugar with fresh orange juice until smooth consistency and drizzle it over the warm rolls.
Notes
A delightful fusion of tart cranberries and zesty oranges, perfect for holiday gatherings or cozy brunches.
