2 pounds of Russet potatoes, thinly sliced
2 cups of Cream
1 cup of Gruyere cheese, shredded
1 cup of Parmesan cheese, grated
2 cloves of Garlic, minced
1 teaspoon of Thyme, dried or 2 teaspoons fresh
1 teaspoon of Salt
1/2 teaspoon of Pepper
2 tablespoons of Butter, for greasing
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or olive oil.
Arrange half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
In a bowl, combine the cream, minced garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper. Whisk to combine.
Pour half of this mixture over the first layer of potatoes.
Sprinkle half of the shredded Gruyere and grated Parmesan over the cream-layered potatoes.
Repeat with the remaining potato slices and then the remaining cream mixture and cheese.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is bubbly and golden brown.
Let the gratin rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
