1 large head of cabbage
1 lb of ground beef
1 cup of cooked rice
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
2 cups of tomato sauce
1 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp of pepper
1 tsp of Italian seasoning
1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
Carefully remove the core of the cabbage and peel off 10 to 12 large leaves. Boil in water for 2 to 3 minutes until tender, then plunge into ice water. Set aside.
In a skillet, sauté onions and garlic until soft. Add ground beef and cook until brown. Stir in cooked rice, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Let cool slightly before adding cheese.
Place 2-3 tablespoons of filling on each cabbage leaf near the stem end. Roll tightly, folding in the sides. Repeat until filling is used.
Pour a thin layer of tomato sauce in a baking dish. Arrange cabbage rolls seam-side down and cover with remaining sauce and cheese.
Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40 minutes. Remove foil for the last 15 minutes.
