  • 1 can (15 ounces) corn, drained (optional)
  • Shredded cheese, for topping (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)

  • Instructions

  • Brown the Ground Beef – Heat a large pot over medium heat, add the ground beef and break it up. Cook until browned (5–7 minutes), and drain excess fat.
  • Add Vegetables and Spices – Add chopped onion, bell pepper (if using), and minced garlic to the pot. Sauté until soft (3–4 minutes), then stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  • Incorporate Beans and Tomatoes – Add kidney beans, diced tomatoes (with juice), and tomato paste. Stir to combine.
  • Adjust Thickness – Simmer uncovered to thicken, or add water for a thinner chili.
  • Simmer – Bring to a boil, then reduce to low, cover, and let it simmer for 20–30 minutes.
  • Taste and Adjust – Before serving, taste and adjust seasonings as necessary.
