  • 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast
  • 1 cup of warm milk
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon zest
  • 1 cup of blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice (for glaze)

  • Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • Stir in the melted butter, salt, and lemon zest once the yeast is activated.
  • Gradually add all-purpose flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough, roll it out into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Evenly spread blueberries over the dough, pressing them in gently.
  • Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  • Arrange rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise again for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) while the rolls rise.
  • Bake the sweet rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Whisk together powdered sugar and lemon juice for the glaze while the rolls bake.
  • Allow the rolls to cool slightly before drizzling with glaze.
