Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef (or ground turkey for a leaner option)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free option)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese of your choice)
  • 2 pounds potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • ½ cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Fresh herbs (like parsley or chives) for garnish

  • Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully incorporated, but be careful not to overwork the meat to keep it tender.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in a lined baking dish or on a baking sheet. Bake for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • While the meatloaf is baking, fill a large pot with water, add the chopped potatoes, and bring to a boil. Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
  • Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the milk and butter, and mash until creamy and smooth. Season with salt to taste and stir in half of the shredded cheese for a rich flavor.
  • Once the meatloaf is done, let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve alongside a generous scoop of mashed potatoes topped with the remaining cheese. Garnish with fresh herbs for added color and flavor.
