8 ounces German chocolate, melted
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Butter and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and a pinch of salt.
In a larger bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 4-5 minutes.
Incorporate the egg yolks, one at a time, along with the vanilla extract until fully combined.
Alternate adding the dry flour mixture and the whole milk, starting and ending with the flour.
In another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and gently fold into the batter.
Stir in the melted German chocolate, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans.
Evenly divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 30 minutes.
Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
