Description

Enjoy a healthy boost with our Hearty Sweet Potato Turkey Chili packed with flavor and nutrients Perfect for chilly nights and satisfying meals

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup vegetable or chicken broth
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: avocado, cilantro, cheese, or sour cream

  • Instructions

  • Sauté the Vegetables: In a large pot over medium heat, add a splash of olive oil. Sauté the diced onions for about 3-4 minutes until they start to become translucent. Add the minced garlic for an additional 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  • Brown the Turkey: Push the sautéed vegetables to one side of the pot and add the ground turkey. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  • Mix in the Sweet Potatoes and Spices: Stir in the diced sweet potatoes, chili powder, and cumin. Allow the mixture to cook together for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Add Remaining Ingredients: Pour in the black beans, diced tomatoes, and broth. Stir well to combine all the ingredients, and bring the chili to a boil.
  • Simmer: Once boiling, reduce heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for 40-50 minutes, or until sweet potatoes are soft and the chili thickens to your desired consistency.
