1 block of firm tofu
1 cup of coconut cream
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
Juice of 1 lime
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tablespoon of ginger, grated
1 tablespoon of maple syrup (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnishing
Chili flakes for heat
Chopped green onions
Select firm or extra-firm tofu for the best texture.
Press tofu for at least 30 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut into cubes.
Marinate the tofu in soy sauce, lime juice, and half of the coconut cream for at least 15 minutes.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, add a little oil, and sear the marinated tofu cubes until golden brown.
In the same pan, reduce heat, add minced garlic and grated ginger, and sauté until fragrant.
Pour in the remaining coconut cream and add maple syrup. Simmer for about 5 minutes until sauce thickens.
Add the seared tofu back into the pan, stir gently to coat with the sauce, and simmer on low heat for another 5-7 minutes.
Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary before serving.
